NCID Postdoctoral Fellowship Program: How to Apply
Candidates may directly apply to the program or be nominated by a senior faculty member who is familiar with the candidate’s scholarship.
The deadline for submitting applications is November 1 of each academic year. In years when November 1 falls on a weekend (Saturday or Sunday), materials should be sent so that they arrive no later than 5 p.m. Eastern time on the next business day.
It is the applicant's responsibility to submit a complete application via email, to select a University of Michigan academic department or research unit that is of specific interest as a host, and to arrange for letters of recommendation to be sent to NCID.
Required application materials include:
- a letter (interest in the NCID fellowship and scholarly/professional achievements that demonstrate strong potential for success in a faculty position)
- a curriculum vitae
- a statement of proposed research to be conducted during the fellowship year
- a statement explaining how the applicant’s research and teaching will contribute to both NCID and a related U-M academic unit or research center
- three letters of recommendation.
Applications are not complete until all of the materials listed above have been received by the NCID Postdoctoral Fellowship Program.
Questions regarding the application process and required application materials should be directed to NCIDpostdoc@umich.edu. Materials sent via email should be sent by 11:59 pm on November 1.
Candidates are encouraged to access information about NCID’s mission and core priority areas on its website: www.ncid.umich.edu/about/core.shtml.
